Image by Eyesplash via Flickr I'm just ready to go to sleep for the night and I thought I'd drop a quick blog post before I do. Tomorrow I'll be starting on another doll. And you know, I can't even express how happy making these chibis makes me. The need to be creative is so strong in me, and when I'm not creating I feel quite useless. Even if I'm doing plenty to keep me busy, there is still a part of me that must do something new. Create something that didn't exist before me.
I feel so very lucky that this time in our history has provided me with the means and an avenue to pursuit my artistic tendencies. I'm so grateful for places like Etsy, eBay, FuzzB and others. Without them, I would have had to stop years ago. Because I am able to offer my items for sale, it allows me to pay for the supplies and time that it takes to make them. That's HUGE! That's like loving to eat ice cream, and with every bowl you eat, the action of eating it provides you with another one.
I also am so grateful to the wonderful women who have supported me along in my sculpting career. Not only have they encouraged me to continue, they have been my muse in so many instances when I felt like I had lost the proverbial "it". I have made more friends since I've undergone this adventure than I had in my entire previous life. Now that's really saying something. And these are real and true wonderful friends, who I would have any of them over to my house for dinner.
It's easy to feed the part of you that gets down and ungrateful. But even with all my overeating, that part of me has been getting smaller and smaller. I have been blessed with such a wonderful life. The only regrets I have are the people I have hurt. Nothing else.
And on that note I wish to say, "Good night" and "Thanks for reading".

Chibitude Chibis are little collectibles, sit-abouts, bric-a-brac, chachkies or dust collectors. :o) They are meant to be enjoyed with the eye and with close attention to detail. They are created to be collected and live together in groups. Chibitude Chibis hope to make you and all who you share them with, smile and feel innocent childlike fascination. Can you live without a Chibitude Chibi??? Yes, but after you’ve seen one in person, you’ll ask yourself why you ever did. ;)

The Final Inspection MILITARY
THE FINAL INSPECTION The soldier stood and faced God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass.. 'Step forward now, soldier , How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?' The soldier squared his shoulders and said, 'No, Lord, I guess I have not. Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime, When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear.. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here. They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand. There was a silence all around the throne, Where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God. 'Step forward now, you soldier, You've borne your burdens well. Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell.' Author Unknown~ It's the Soldier, not the reporter Who has given us the Freedom of the Press. It's the Soldier, not the poet, Who has given us the Freedom of Speech. It's the Soldier, not the politicians That ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.. It's the Soldier who salutes the Flag, Who serves beneath the Flag, And whose coffin is draped by the Flag. |

Jessica of True Blood is Finished
I had a lot of fun making this doll. And learned quite a bit through the steps. I will tell you some of the things that I learned while making this little doll. But before I do that, I'll share some pictures.
Here is a finished picture of Jessica.
I love the way that her eyelashes came out. I used a dark brown for her first layer of lashes, then a lighter brown for a second layer, and then an even lighter brown for the last layer. I think this looks very good on a red head.

Her little shoes were obviously made from polymer clay. I used Studio by Sculpey clay for them because the color of this clay is so vibrant and I didn't have to mix it. I learned that by putting a light layer of Sobo glue on the baked foot it made the Studio by Sculpey stick nicely. :o) That was a good thing.
Her barrette was made simply by printing out a lovely pattern, gluing it to cardstock, and then covering with packing tape.

Her curls were fun to do. I used a straw cut in little pieces and straight pins to hold it in place.
When I was finished I used Freeze It hairspray to style and shape the curls. Not all of them went in the direction I liked so I re-curled them using a paintbrush handle, some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, and my Freeze It.
In this picture you're looking at Jessica's hair with a part that runs from ear to ear. Don below her hair, that is loose hair that I ratted together in my hands to make that shape. The reason? To glue across the part. There's a reason for that too, which I'll show you in the next pictures.
Here, the ratted part is glued on. The reason that I did this was first to add some bulk to her hair style and also to have an area to needle felt into.
To pull the front of her hair back into her pretty hair style, I twisted it and then needle felted it down.
Once that was done I used needle and thread to secure in place.
I had a lot of fun making this doll. Thanks for hanging out with me :o) xo Maddy

Dress is finished
Little Jessica's dress was a challenge sewing those tiny gathers, but it was worth it because I think it's such a cute dress. I wish I could wear something like that. There's a scary thought...LOL Anyway, here's an updated pic. Next comes the wig. :o)
Jessica's paint and body
Moving along at a fair pace now. Jessica's eyes have been painted, and her thread body has been completed. There is a little tightening that I'd still like to do on her shoulders. This was my first time making polymer clay shoes to overlay the foot. I like the way that they look, although for next time I need to make the feet a little smaller to account for them.
Face is sculpted
Here's her face before she went into the oven. I virtually painted her eyes and makeup to see how she'd look. I'll be honest, I'm really super pleased with her mouth and fangs. I didn't know if she could be cute this way, but I think that she is!!
Teeth for Jessica Hamby
Jessica is moving along slower than the others because I have new things to figure out. First of all....fangs. I've done tusks on animal chibis, but never fangs. So this is my first hurdle. They are sculpted and in the oven right now being baked. Here's a picture of them. That's my index finger in the picture, so you can reference the size of these little teeth.

| This adorable item I'm offering for sale is called a chibi. A Chibitude Chibi to be exact. It is a representation of a lovely little fantasy race that lives in a place called Kiki Valley. Each collectible is sculpted out of clay by hand and by me (the creator) using the highest quality polymer clays. The colors are custom mixed and various techniques are used which are unique to my items. Chibitude Chibis may be cleaned by lightly dusting, or wiping with a moist cloth. Chibitude Chibis are strong, but you don't want to throw them around willy-nilly... read more |
