The wings are Finished....

maybe....lol Boy these were a lot of work! I've been working on them since this morning. I know I won't make enough on this dragonfly (if it even sells) to pay for the time that went into these wings, but it makes me feel good that I've pushed myself through something new and hard and completed it.

I've got to pack Gomez and Morticia for their journey to their new home, and then if I'm not too exhausted, I'll start my little dragonfly.

New Project Started Wings

This next project is a crossover project. I'm making a new polymer clay dragonfly, but making the wings out of thread. Here you can see a picture of them as they are crocheted. You can view the graphical chart I sketched out on my Pretty Knots blog. They are crocheted out of Sulky sewing thread. This was accomplished by wrapping a fair amount of thread over a clothes pin, and then crocheting with a double strand (one coming from the spool and the other from the clothes pin). The Sulky thread is so beautiful and soft and shiny, and hard to crochet with. 10 needle or 0.75mm. View this type of thread on Amazon: Sulky Rayon Thread 40 Weight 250 Yards Hot Pink 942-1109; 3 Items/Order It's so pretty.

Currently the wings are being starched/stiffened so that I can use them for wings. I've yet to decide if I'll embellish them more, or keep them simple. I'll post updates as I move along. The updates for the Dragonfly will appear on this Blog.

Updates Gomez WIP Getting Dressed

Well here's Gomez getting his suit. So far it's just his pants but they're looking pretty good. Fitting suits and jackets/pants are difficult on these little dolls because you want them to still be able to pose slightly so you have to forfeit traditional construction. For example. The crotch of Gomez's pants is not closed. It has a patch of the same fabric underneath so that his legs will have some movement. The Jacket will have to be the same with the underarms not closed so that his arms may move. xoxo

Gomez is getting his final bake

Here he is with his hair, his eyebrows and his mustache. All painted and almost ready to get dressed. He's shiny because after I paint, I put on a layer of liquid clay. This stops the paint from chipping and it adds a nice toothy feel to the clay as well as filling in any gaps making it more secure.

Chibitude - Pretty Knots

This is my first offering from my new venture "Pretty Knots" my explorations in crochet tatting and other knotty stuff. :O)

-The bracelet that I am offering is crocheted out of cotton thread and embroidery floss.
-It measures about 2 inches wide and 7 inches around.
-The clasp works by taking the flower that is dangling from the cord and wrapping it around the flower on the other side of the cuff. This allows it to be opened easily and adjusts as needed for a larger wrist.
-The cuff has been hardened with fabric stiffener so the shape is permanent.
-This item is made to order and will take about 5 days to complete.

Gomez is coming along. I put some computer hair on him to see what I needed to modify to make him more Mezzy. With the sketched on hair, he looked like a cross between Fred Astaire and Peter Lorre....LOL I see that I need to add some height to his head. That shouldn't be a problem (I hope) Anyhoo....moving forward. :o) xo

Well Gomez like to be sculpted too. He came out pretty quick, and is ready to be painted. I'm moving a bit slower on this one because I'm not sure how I'm going to accomplish the pinstriped suit that he wears in the proper scale. But I'll figure it out!

I like his teeth. :O) I wonder how he'll look with his stache and stuff.

Kawaii Shimai Is getting her Wig :o)

I love this color of hair. This little shimai turning out to be quite a cutie.
Sorry Jacqui, I may just have to keep her myself....LOL ;)

Her hair's done with viscose, using Fabri-tac and Sobo glue.
The color is a custom blend I made using an Auburn viscose and
then adding some red dye.

After this dries, then I just need to add her center part and then
the spray so it goes NOWHERE....lol

Orange and Yellow Crochet Slippers

I just finished this pair of slippers. I'm a slipper-holic. I love making them, and love wearing them. This is my favorite stitch. It's nothing fancy, just an alternating single crochet and double crochet. But I love the bumpy texture and the way it masks the rows of the crochet.

These slippers are my own pattern, and the bows are my own design as well.

The soles are crocheted in one sitting without piecing together. I used "Shoe Goo" on the bottom of the soles for traction.

I haven't written the pattern down for these but if there's interest, I could :o)

True reproductions are simply not possible as no molds are used for the main items. I do use some molds that I have created myself from my own sculptures for some accessories, such as little companion critters, lady bugs, bases, flowers etc.

This adorable item I'm offering for sale is called a chibi. A Chibitude Chibi to be exact. It is a representation of a lovely little fantasy race that lives in a place called Kiki Valley.

Coconut is approximately 4 chibi-years old and is a very loving boy....but on his own terms :) He loves chin scritches!!

True reproductions are simply not possible as no molds are used for the main items. I do use some molds that I have created myself from my own sculptures for some accessories, such as little companion critters, lady bugs, bases, flowers etc.

Chibitude Chibis are little collectibles, sit-abouts, bric-a-brac, chachkies or dust collectors. :o) They are meant to be enjoyed with the eye and with close attention to detail. They are created to be collected and live together in groups. Chibitude Chibis are meant to make you and all who you share them with, smile and feel innocent childlike fascination.

New Fuzzy Monsters

I'm working on a new item for a little bit. I never know what's going to "stick" and what isn't. This little guy here is my prototype.

What I've learned so far with this trial monster is that my Mighty Mend-it glue holds flipping awesome for gluing on the eyes. I thought I was putting them on temporary, but when it came time to remove they said "Nope!"

I've also learned that it's easier to sew the limbs on without the buttons. On the current one I'm working on the legs are arms are sewn on, and I'm going to make cute little buttons to go over the knots. (I think) Everything is still a work in progress.

Also, acrylic yarn can indeed be brushed. I was under the impression from what I read online that it was only wool. Not true :o)

Taking the top row of the limbs and making it flat instead of a tube also helps with the sewing.

Today I'm working on polymer clay eyes for the next one. He's green and yellow and I've painted green eyes for him/her.

Here I've created her dress. The shoulders are attached at the top but not underneath the arm. That is because this is a ball jointed doll, and she needs to be able to move her arms. This allows for the freedom to raise the arms over her head, move forward and backward.

I crocheted this delicate lace. It's made using the smallest needle that I have and a simple pattern that I developed to make my daisy lace.

Anne's jumper is finished. Lastly I will be crocheting a color for her dress that matches the green lace.

These little shoes have a sole size of just 7/8ths of an inch. Hard to visualize? Just picture the heel of the boot at the left side of your thumbnail, and the toe of the boot at the right side of your thumbnail. The smallest shoes I've ever made. The soles are made with craft foam. The laces are black thread.

The shoes for Anne needed to be tiny. Smaller than Barbie, and that's small. These boots (lace up) are made with just one piece of fabric, thread and glue. The actual pattern is here with a sole size of just 7/8ths of an inch.

The glue around her soles is completed and dry.

This little outfit fits soooooooo much better. Using the finer material, and making sure she's got bootie really made the difference. I think she looks adorable! I feel like I want to make a Sailor Moon doll, now seeing Tink in the outfit. :o)

She still needs a couple of final touches that you won't be able to see, like painting the bottom of her base etc, but other than that, this little one is happy and finished.

Here she is in more poses. I thought I was going to add more stuff to her base, but now I'm not sure because she seems to enjoy moving all around it.

Here's her cute little underpants. I know, I coulda maybe even shoulda used green, but she said that since she's not a "Disney" Tinkerbell that she has a little more say in how she looks, and she wanted yellow flowered undies. Who could say "no" to that face?

Tinky's got back. Tinks got nice back...LOL This will make her skirt hang so cute with her have a cute little booty!

WIP Kawai Shimai Tinkerbell 8

Here are some step by step pictures of the base I'm making for Tinkerbell. I'm using Studio by Sculpey clay, and Bake & Bond. And the Bake & Bond is wonderful! It's thick enough and sticky enough that it actually holds the clay where I want it until it's baked. So I didn't have to sqwersh up my little decorations.

Thanks for taking a peek. Next I must dress little Tink. She loves the new base. She said she might like a flower on the top to sit on and a nice mushroom for her feet. I'll look into that for her :o)

WIP Kawai Shimai Tinkerbell 5

Here it's hard to tell what I'm doing, but I thought I'd explain because it might help some people. There are different kinds of liquid clay. Kato Liquid Polyclay , Translucent Liquid Sculpey, Fimo Gel, Studio by Sculpey Bake-n-Bond. And each one has a different result when used.

Here I'm using two different kinds of liquid polymer clay. Over her skin, I'm using translucent liqud sculpey (TLS) and over her shoes I'm using Fimo Gel. Fimo Gel has a slight shiny appearance when baked, and it's slightly sticky like rubber is. I'm going to apply a pretty green mica powder to her shoes after they're baked, and Fimo Gel leaves just the right amount of tackiness for this. Over her skin, I'm using TLS because it has a very matte appearance when cured. I like this look for the skin. They both at the same temperature for the same amount of time so this isn't an issue, although painting them to butt up against each other was a challenge...LOL We'll see if I succeeded in about 16 more minutes. :o)

WIP Kawai Shimai Tinkerbell 4

Been working on Tink today and we're having a much better time. I started by making some pretty gold and green wings for her, but we both decided that they weren't what she was looking for. Here's a picture of the first wings that we changed our minds on:

So I started on some other wings. Back in the day------------waaaaaaaaaaaay back, I used to make wings and sell them. And there were all kinds that I made, so I pulled out some of my old techniques and created these for Miss Tink. We both like them very very much!

The next thing that we're working on is a little piece of "home" that she can take with her to her new destination. This is the beginning of what will be both her base and doll stand.

I'm using multiple materials to work on this. I started with two index cards and made a box and a random shape for the bottom. Taped it together, and then began to cover it with two part epoxy.

The first epoxy stuff I used was my favorite kind, Loctite brand. And then because it just sets up so fast and I was feeling anxious...LOL I decided to do the rest of it with my other favorite kind...Fixit Sculpt. That's why you see two different colors. The Loctite is kind of light blue and sets up in about 5 minutes total. The Fixit has a little bit of a yellowish/greenish tint and sets up in 1 to 4 hours. Much easier to work with if you're patient enough to wait for it to set up.

Next on my agenda is that I'm going to redress Tink. I don't like her outfit. I like the idea of it, just not the execution of the design. I'm going to remake it with some different materials so that it's more delicate, and more figure forming.

Tinks little shoes are giving me fits too, because the paint keeps chipping off while working on her. I'm going to redo that as well, and cover them with a nice coat of TLS so there will not be any more concerns with that. I'm going to have to take her wig back off in order to do this, but I think it will be worth it.

Sometimes when I'm working on a doll, if there's one thing I'm not crazy about and I don't stop, but just keep moving forward I find that I stall. That's the case with Tinks dress. She's got such a cute face. Her dress shouldn't be so chunky.

For years I fought to keep away from custom orders, but now, it's just so fun to have someone to work with. Tinki got a little bit of a make-over today. Day before yesterday we had a little oops and I had to wash the paint off of her face. Yesterday I repainted and send updated photos to my partner in Tink. And we both agreed that something wasn't right. She saw it right away, and shared her opinion. Thankfully she felt comfy enough to be honest! YAY!

With her hair finished. I think she looks cute, but am not sure how the commissioner will feel. I had a very hard time with her hair because it's so soft and fly-away.

Here she is as I was working on her hair. Poor little thing, her hair was everywhere, and it was driving me crazy going up my nose and all over my clothes. I'm sure she felt the same way!

Moving along pretty well with this little one. Even though I'm a bit slower than usual because of life stuff, when I do get to sit down and get busy, things are progressing nicely.
Today I got her little green underpanties made and her shoes are painted.

Her fabric is in the oven. I made green fabric and put little shimmers of gold on it. Then I covered it with TLS so that it will be able to handle the style of her little dress. When the fabric is finished it will be more like a plastic than an actual fabric.

Her dress is off to a good start. It's on and designed and her belt and shoulder straps are finished. Now I want to add some glitter to it, and also to work on her shoes.

Her little shoes are sealed and she's got some pretty white pom poms on them. I've added glitter to her dress and to her pom poms. The glue is drying. Not much farther to go! I wonder what kind of base Tink will have.

Doll Stand for Wednesday Addams

Here is the design that I'm shooting for. My commissioner came up with the idea, I added the little pebble walkway.

First thing I needed to do was to create the doll stand for Wednesday. I used black galvanized wire.

Once I had the shape I wanted, I covered the part of the wire that will be exposed with black yarn.

Then I covered the yarn with fabric stiffener mixed with black paint and smoothed down the fuzzies. :o) Some yarn is nice and smoother and others are kind of frizzy.

Once this was dry, I bent little nooks into the wire base so that I could screw it down to the wooden bottom.

Then I secured it to the base using brass screws. These little screws are so hard to find. I need to remember to add this to My Own Honey-Do List so that I don't forget.

Next I started the tombstone. The original drawing, I had a cross on the top, and with this commissioner, I try not to make any decisions without running them by her, but I needed to move forward today and usually don't hear from her until late in the evening. So I removed the cross from the top because I was worried about the structural issues and put the cross into the design on the tombstone.

That's a piece of floral tape wrapped around it. There is a wire stand being glued to the back, and I didn't want it to move until it was dry. I'm using e-6000 so it will be a while until the piece is ready to handle. This is going to go into the oven, and to be honest, I'm not sure how the e-6000 is going to work. I know I shouldn't heat it, but hopefully the heat isn't too high and it will be ok.

Both are attached to the wooden base now with screws. Don't mind the pattern on the wood. I have been drawing on this piece for a while now and it's the only piece of wood I have that's the right size and shape for this project.

The ground, cobblestone walk and dirt pile has been added. The walkway looks shiny because the paint's still wet. The piece is in the oven now. In this picture it hadn't been baked yet. I like to paint the base coat before baking so that the heat will help to set it. Once the whole thing has cured and cooled, I'll dry brush greens in certain areas to make it look like grass, and browns in others, as well as grays on the stones.

All the painting has been done. I hope the commissioner likes this! :o) One more pic below.

Don't Ever Get Proud

That's a new rule that I have for myself. Because when I do, God reminds me that I am NOT as accomplished as I had thought.

And another rule is, "If you're not 100% happy with something, fix it." Today I was reminded of this issue as well.

Jessica's wig is the subject of the deep deep philosophical discussion...lol. When I made it, I set it using pin curls and the curls came out nice, but they were too tight to the top of her head. Also because the doll I was rewigging wasn't made by me, that meant the head shape was made to match my wigging style which resulted in the look of less hair than I hoped for. But I thought I could make it work.

I was wrong. Even though it looked cute, I wasn't happy with it for the reasons mentioned above. And this morning when I went to pack her to ship, I saw that her hair had flattened out and her curls weren't like they were. And this is because I didn't put enough spray on it.

And why didn't I put enough spray?? I'd say that subliminally, I knew I wasn't 100% happy and wanted to leave myself room to fiddle with it some more.

Next time -- no putting off the inevitable. Fix it right then an there. And quit thinking, "Oh, I'm good at this, I can make it work".

Here's Jessica with her new wig being set. Notice this time I set it using rollers instead so that the top of her hair could be straight and fluffy like the original hair style.

Her hair has dried, and her style has been completed. I am SO MUCH HAPPIER now. I feel like I did a good job now. Here are her updated photos :o)

Rewigging Project

There is a love of dolls that is so great that one will get their favorite dolls "revamped" from time to time. I think this is wonderful, and am so thrilled to be able to help in this area when my skills are applicable. Various things may happen to your doll over it's lifetime, hair losing it's curl, accidents, mishaps etc. So much better to have your doll repaired or restored than to just give up on your little cutie.

This project I'm rewigging two very loved dolls. The girls (dolls) seem to be happy to be at the beauty salon...LOL

I'm creating a post because I wanted to show my progress with this project.

The two dolls that I received were different sizes, and because they were also different materials I decided to wig them on dummy heads instead of directly on the doll. One of them is some form of air dry clay or plaster and the other seemed to be a polymer but with a glaze that I'm unfamiliar with.

I used alligator clips on lollipop sticks with aluminum foil to match the size of the dolls head. I then covered the foil with plastic and secured with twist ties.

Here you can see that I've done the base wigging for both dolls. The doll on the right is Jessica from true blood, and the one on the left is Emma from Glee.

I've set both wigs and they are in the process of drying. The Emma doll has a cute hair style that is parted on the side and curls under around her face. Her curlers are cut pieces of straw, and the clips that I'm using are little miniature pincher clips that you can use on a child hair.

Jessica's wig is being set using pin curls. They are twisted and then rolled into little buns. Her hair is quite long and the curls are meant to only be at the ends of the hair, so when I remove this setting, I will more than likely need to loosen up the curls around the crown of her head.

I've removed her rollers and as you can see, the curls are nice and tight. Now is when I'll cut the hair. This way made it easier to roll and I didn't have to worry about the ends.

And here she is with her new hair-do. She seems quite happy :o) I'm very pleased with this method of rewigging. It was much easier than trying to fight with the doll to get them to keep still. They're very fidgety when you're trying to style or roll the hair. Even during cutting too.

And here she is with her new wig, very happy with her curls. :o) I had to finger comb it for quite a while to get the curls to lay in the right place. Then her hair was trimmed and it's been sprayed to hold the style.

My Own Honey-Do List

Yup, I'm making one for me...LOL. I just have little projects that I forget to get around to that aren't urgent, or even important, and I want to remember them.

1. Make a soap dish....research on the net for a good idea and make it.
2. Make a block like my wing block, but bigger that can hold my most often used tools. That can sit on my desk while I sculpt. With the usual suspects, liner brush, eyebrow comb, clay shapers, needle tool, x-acto knife, wooden tool.
3. ~~Cover my crochet hooks with 2 part epoxy or polymer clay. The plastic ones are done, but the metal small ones are not. They hurt my hands to use them. Fix that.~~ I stamped the sizes into the ends of the clay and covered it with pretty shiny powders. Haven't used them yet.

4. Make a case to hold my crochet hooks. I'm using a pencil case, but make one that I can see them all at once, like a roll out pouch.
5. A really cute pin cushion that will fit inside of my sewing box. Make sure to use wood at the bottom so that the pins do not go all the way through and poink me.
6. R~~esearch on the web and find if there are different grades of felt. Find a higher grade than the stuff I bought at Walmart. Once found, search for the lowest price.~~

7. Look for bulk embroidery thread for sale. Used, so that the price is lower.
8. Look for bulk crochet thread....and keep looking. I need more colors but can't afford to pay much.

9. ~~Book ends for my clay books.~~ I used a c clamp on the back of my shelf. Works perfect. Finally things aren't falling over :o)

10. Make a wigging stand. Something that can hold the doll securely and also that is bottom heavy so that it doesn't keep tipping over. Consider making a false head for the stand and reusing it to make the wigs instead of wigging directly on the doll. Here's my solution. Foil balls on sucker sticks covered with plastic wrap.

11. In the movie "I remember Mamma" the oldest daughter wants a hair receiver. I'd like to make one of those to use with my viscose. Would be neat if I could make one that has a separate place for each color of hair (something that wasn't necessary in the original design)

Wednesday Friday Addams WIP

I started working on this doll on Monday. I gave myself a week to finish her, but I didn't quite make it. I need to get myself moving faster. :o)

Anyways, here are progress pictures of her as I've been moving along.

I tried something a little different this time. Long ago when I did fairies I used this technique, but had since moved on. What I did was only sculpted the bottom of the eyes. This way I have more options when it comes time to paint. She looks like her eyes are closed, and that's why. It's funny how she looks kind of messy before she's baked. But just like the rest of us women, makeup does wonders :o) As you can see in the next picture.

I'm totally happy with these eyes. I know people say don't ever use white for the whites of the eyes when making dolls. I say Hogwash!! I want my eyes to pop, and white makes them pop! Of course realism isn't what I aim for. More of a fantasy world kind of look.

Here she has her hands and feet finished and her body has been made. In case you're curious, her body is made of cloth covered floral wire and then wrapped with pipe cleaners. This way it can be posed easily but still hold it's shape. If you've seen my videos, you might notice that I use superglue to glue the armature into the hands and feet before I bake them. This is another step that I do to make the clay secure.

Here she has her striped stockings on. Wednesday didn't really wear this kind of stockings, but with so much black on her outfit, it seemed like a good choice to add a little flair to the fashion. The stockings are made by wrapping the wires with crochet threads. The reason that I do this is so that the legs can still be bent without any restriction. If I had used a material that ran vertically on the leg instead, this would limit the movement because of the scale of the doll.

These are two quick little sketched I did on the computer to try out different design ideas for her clothing. I used my graphics tablet and Ulead PhotoImpact software to do the drawings. I showed this sketch to the commissioner and she preferred the design on the left. So that's what I attempted to do.

I've used my satin flesh thread to bulk up her upper torso. She's ready to be dressed now.

Here are her little shoes. They are made out of felt and polymer clay. The soles being polymer. I still need to add the laces. I've been putting this off. I'm worried that if I pierce the felt it will rip, so in the back of my mind I've been trying to work out another way to accomplish the task.

Ok.....now let me explain something. My husband gets upset we me (and rightly so) because he says that I don't listen to him. I totally do listen. But you know, I sometimes think to myself, "Oh, I can make that even better than what we discussed and surprise him". And you know what happens? He's disappointed because he wanted things the way we talked about them. Darn me, why do I do this???

Anyhow, that's what you're seeing here. Me, in my constant attempt to do better than expected attempted to duplicate Wednesday Addams dress from the movie. That is the exact print that was used on her dress. This dress isn't finished, didn't do the cuffs or collar. But after I did it, I realized it looks crappy. Just not right.

And I had to show my commissioner just in case she liked it, I'd hate to take an option away. Needless to say it's NOT what she wanted, so this little dress is in my stash for another doll later. :o)

This is Wednesday's new dress. It's made out of felt and cotton. It looks like wool, and although I've not hear from her commissioner yet, I think it looks much better.

And here she is with her buttons. I used polymer clay to make the little buttons. They are glued on because they are tiny. I trimmed the shape of her skirt as well.

I got myself into a tizzy tonight over her little headless doll. I didn't want to make it out of clay because then it wouldn't look like a doll, because it would look the same. So I wasted all day today being freaked out about her little doll. I even got bummed out and went to sleep for a good 6 hours.

Then I went out and talked to hubby and together we came up with this sweet little doll. Now I think it's perfect and am super happy with it. It's a little hard to see because of the black and white. It's made out of pipe cleaner that I covered in felt and then threaded over it. The collar is made of cotton and the buttons are made of laminated cardboard.

Here's a better picture of the doll. I put it in my hand so you could see the size as well as the contrast. Cute huh? I like it.

Her shoes are laced and I really need to start trusting myself. They were perfect to do and quite sturdy since I used the fabric stiffener on the felt as well as a coat of black acrylic paint. I stressed for nothing. The only thing left to do is to wig little Wednesday. And since I gave myself today as a deadline, even thought it's 11:20 pm, I'd better get busy.

Wednesday is in her CFSW and ready to start getting wigged. I do this to protect her clothing from loose hair. Just like when you get your hair cut. :o)

Here I've started her hair. Wednesday wears her hair in two braids so wigging a doll like this is almost like making two wigs. One for each side of her head. The key to a nice wig is to be sure that there are no ends showing around the hairline. In this picture it looks like I've got lots of hair ready to do the right side of her head, but the fact is all of that hair is for the left side. It will be pulled and flipped over to show a nice part line down the center. (I hope!!!) :o) Blogging and photo taking while I sculpt helps a lot because it gives me the patience to wait for glue to dry. ;)

I sure wish this picture would have come out better, but it is what it is...LOL Here you can see where I've pulled all of the hair on her left over to form the pigtail. See the nice-ish straight part?

And here's what it looks like from the left. So far so good. :o) I'll be happy when I can get her hair all finished. There's one thing I do not like about wigging. It's all the fly-aways!!! There are little black fibers floating through the air and on everything! And then when it comes time to pull out the clay there are little fibers that get caught in it. No matter how hard I try I can never get them all up. Poooooh!

And here is the right side of her head waiting for the glue to dry. I don't know if anyone noticed but I'm wigging this doll a little differently than usual. I usually use the little wefts, but today felt pressured to get on schedule so I forgo that step and went straight from hank to head. It actually worked quite well, and if you decide you'd like to try this method, I will share some tricks here at a later date: Non-wefted Viscose Application.

As you can see I didn't get the part as close together as I would have liked. So it's time for a little "fixing".

This might look a little worse to you, but what I did was to put a line of glue down the hair line and then press the hair into the glue. Once it has dried I will then attempt to smooth it out again.

I love when I get the hair finished and can take her out of her CFSW. It's like opening a present :o) Below are some more pictures of her. Click to enlarge these ones.

All in all I enjoyed making this doll. I do have to say that I wasn't fond of my self imposed time frame. Made me feel a little pressured. But it's really fun to make something that I'd never think of making. I hope you like her and enjoyed following along.

Amigurumi Frog

Well, a sweet buddy of mine reminded me of a cute froggy prince that I made years ago and got me in the mood to try my hand at my own design of an amigurumi frog.

I've been working on him today. And although he "could" be called finished, I'm not quite happy with how he looks. He currently looks like the first picture, but I want him to look like the second picture.

So I need to figure out how to make that mouth. I find that embroidering on crochet just simply doesn't work well at all. The stitches tend to go wonky and it doesn't look neat. So I don't think that's the answer.

Tomorrow I start sculpting Christi's Wednesday Adams doll, so I thought that while I was sculpting her, I could have a piece of black felt that I use fabric stiffener on, drying. My thoughts are that if I use the stiffener, I'll be able to cut it out nice and neat without the edges fuzzing out. Then I can stitch or glue it to my amigurumi.

I'll try the same thing with the pupils. Wish me luck!!

We adopted a Pitty

And we've renamed her. Her name is Mooshi. :o)
We went to walmart and got her a cool mesh harness a pound in the ground stake, and a big pyrex casserole dish for water. A big ole' bad of ole' Roy and brought her dog house over here for under the tree. Oh and a pretty pink collar with hearts on it :o)

And I got two big bones, one for her and one for Chloe. And I gave them both their bones, and Chloe went and buried hers and Mooshi started chewing her bone. Then Mooshi got distracted for some reason and Chloe snuck over and stole her bone. LMAO, and then Chloe took it under her dog house, and buried it. So we unburied it and gave it back to Mooshi. Then Chloe started acting all bitchy and bully-ish and trying to take Mooshi's bone. So Mac went and dug up Chloes bone, and let Chloe watch him give it to Mooshi. It was soooo funny. Finally, Chloe got one of the bones and game over to the shed and left it with us.

Then when I came inside and asked Chloe if she wanted to come, she grabbed her bone and brought it in and buried it in the living room under the rug.

In the final stretch. She waits while her hair dries. I'll have some lunch and then hopefully it'll be dry. Fbi badges for both and they will be finished! Really fun with these two. And I personally love Scully's suit. My commissioner hasn't said if it's ok though, so I do worry that maybe she's not fond of it.

Sculpting Gillian Anderson 3

Scully is in her county fair sausage wrap and ready to start her wig. It's odd, because when I was sculpting her, I felt as though she wasn't right, but the more I look at her and the more episodes I watch, she seems to look more correct. Today's the day though. Once she's wigged, that's when we know if I got her right or not. :O) Here's hoping. I'll post pictures in the update album.
